This year, I’ve learned that just going with the flow isn’t getting me where I want to be. I thought I was doing okay, but I wasn’t really moving forward. I’ve figured out that living purposefully means making plans and then actually doing them. It’s been a big lesson for me.
Lots of folks think planning restricts your life, making it more rigid. But, I disagree. Having a plan doesn’t cage you. I’ve concluded, through experience, that it actaully sets you free to do what you really want.
I also had the same misconception – making plans would make my life too rigid, like I’d lose out on spontaneity and freedom. I used to think that having a plan meant I couldn’t just go with the flow or do things on a whim.
But what I’ve come to realize is that having a plan doesn’t take away freedom. It actually gives more control over my time and allows me to do the things I really want to do. Instead of restricting me, planning helps me make room for the things that matters most to me.
2024: Goals, Growth, and Going Beyond
Now that I know what I know, a plan is a roadmap that guides me while still leaving space for unexpected adventures. And, I can’t wait to be finally living my life purposefully.
For 2024, I’m determined to set some solid goals and actually make them happen. There are different areas I’m focusing on:
⭐ Financially, my priority is to secure stability and save up for our future home. I and my husband, Frank, want to be more intentional about managing finances and making smart investments.
⭐ Career-wise, I’m all in on Mea in Bacolod—I want to share more of my experiences, connect with others, and grow the blog. Additionally, I’m looking to start a consultancy service, offering advice to businesses on how to be more effective on their social media pages.
⭐ My family and I are lucky to have some travel plans this year. I want to make the most of these trips by spending quality time connecting and hanging out.
⭐ On a personal level, I’m placing emphasis on mental wellness and getting physically fit. We’ve decided to join marathons as a family, so I need to get in shape for that. Also, I’m aiming to read more books and seek out new experiences (hiking??? probably?).
⭐ Not forgetting our relationship, my husband and I have decided to make our relationship a major priority —we want to keep the spark alive by learning more about each other every day. This means date nights – library dates, coffee dates, and a lot more.
The key takeaway from my plans for 2024 is the importance of purposeful living through planning and action.
Setting clear goals in different aspects of life—financially, career-wise, in relationships, personal growth, and experiences—doesn’t restrict one’s freedom but gives structure while allowing flexibility. Planning ensures that I’m moving toward the life I envision.
Why am I sharing this with you on the first day of 2024? I would love it if you could join me in my plans for 2024. Your support has meant the world to me. Thank you for being a part of Mea in Bacolod thus far.
It is my hope that you also make 2024 a year of purpose, growth, and unforgettable moments.
